About

Clinician

Jaclyn is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and owner of Open Minds Psychotherapy. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of San Diego and a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine School of Education and Psychology. Jaclyn’s training and early-career clinical experience were centered in Los Angeles and San Diego. Jaclyn worked in a nonprofit, community-based mental health clinic and administered culturally competent therapy to diverse populations for a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, OCD, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress, phase of life issues, identify formation, grief, and loss. She also completed training in immediate intervention and couples counseling and volunteered at a crisis line, where she worked to counsel youth and adults in need of immediate support.  Before pursuing a career in mental health, Jaclyn earned a law degree from UCLA School of Law and practiced as a family law attorney, advocating for clients who were experiencing great life challenges— supporting and encouraging individuals through difficult courtroom proceedings with high stakes, such as domestic violence restraining order trials, high-conflict child custody disputes, and complex divorce proceedings. She volunteered at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Downtown Los Angeles and other settings, sitting with victims of domestic violence as they recounted their trauma and preparing declarations and legal documents for judicial review.  Jaclyn’s combined education and experience have led her to adopt a trauma-informed approach to therapy that is rooted in psychodynamic theory and incorporates mindfulness, a humanistic lens, and cognitive behavioral therapy.  Jaclyn offers Telehealth psychotherapy to California residents.
